Rumi Blog

Love Is Everything
Rumi wrote the poem "Night and Sleep."  This poem showed how love can set you free.  At first glance you might think it was about loving another person like you.  At second glance, it seems more about higher powers and religion.
In the poem Rumi said, "A soul is here for its own joy" (Rumi 2).  This is not talking about the soul feels joy from another, but is saying how the soul is here for its own purpose.  Rumi is talking about religious love.
He also said, "The mind, for learning what men have done and tried to do"(Rumi 5-6).  Rumi is trying to explain that religion comes from learning from others, but also making your own mistakes.

Philosophy is not about knowing all of the answers.  Rumi reiterates that by saying, "Mysteries are not meant to be solved" (Rumi 7).  Rumi wants to say that life is not meant to be organized and thought out, but to just be lived.  Life is not questions and answers, but loving and living.
